Lisa Kudrow is joining up with Space Force, according to a Wednesday announcement. The parody of Trump’s ludicrous addition to the military was picked up straight to series in January 2019 and boasts The Office’s Greg Daniels as well as Steve Carell. Kudrow will play Maggie Naird, a Washington Air Force wife who’s beginning to stretch out from beneath her husband’s shadow in her own direction. Along with the news that Friends star Kudrow would be joining the cast, we also discovered that Space Force is premiering on Netflix on May 29.

MGM nabs up Ridley Scott’s Gucci, starring Lady Gaga

Gucci is heading to MGM following a contentious bid war with Netflix and another streamer. The Ridley Scott film is a true crime drama telling the story of Maurizio Gucci’s murder, using Sara Gay Forden’s book The House of Gucci: A Sensational Story of Murder, Madness, Glamour, and Greed as a basis. THR is also reporting that Lady Gaga is in talks to star as the fashion trailblazer’s ex-wife, Patrizia Reggiani. The acquisition comes as MGM hopes to expand its library out from its Bond and Creed franchises into more standalone works. Recently, the studio also bought movie rights to The Martian writer Andy Weir’s next novel, with Ryan Gosling attached to star.

The Others is coming back for a remake

Nicole Kidman’s The Others is in line for a remake, courtesy of Sentient Entertainment. The 2001 horror movie is heading for its 20th anniversary next year and Deadline reports that studios were fiercely competitive in landing rights for a return. The movie is eerily relevant. For those who haven’t seen it, The Others follows a war widow and her children in a time when a rare disease runs amok and forces the family into an isolated mansion to protect themselves and prevent its spread. Apparently, Sentient hopes to modernize the script, which is also attracting quite a bit of attention in terms of talent.

FX’s Mrs. America examines the opposition of the ERA

If you want to get good and mad, FX and Hulu has a series for you. Mrs. America follows conservative activist Phyllis Schlafly as she attempts to stymie the Equal Rights Act with calls to keep women in the home – not in the workplace – and prevent a “sex-neutral society.” Cate Blanchett stars and acts as executive producer in the nine-part miniseries with fellow cast members Elizabeth Banks, Uzo Aduba, Rose Byrne and James Marsden. Check it out on Hulu, beginning on April 15.

Booksmart’s Beanie Feldstein has another coming-of-age hit

How to Build a Girl dropped its first trailer and it looks just as fun, witty and emotional as star Beanie Feldstein’s recent hit, Booksmart. Based on a semi-autobiographical novel of the same name by Caitlin Moran, it’s a coming-of-age story about Johanna, a girl trying to find herself through work – in this case, a critic of wild rock. But, swept up in success she loses track of who she is and starts all over again. How to Build a Girl also stars Game of Thrones’ sleeper star Alfie Allen, Paddy Considine, Chris O’Dowd, Lucy Punch and Jameela Jamil and is directed by Coky Giedroyc (Penny Dreadful). Look for it to hit VOD on May 8th.
